History

Madlax, Inc. started as two retail 'corners' in two stores in northern VA in 1996 by Cabell Maddux, an All-American Attackman and two-time National Champion at Hobart College, who saw a need for the first lacrosse specialty store in the greater DC area.  Madlax opened it's own full scale retail store in 1997.  Maddux, the MVP of the 1993 NCAA National Championship, the last title Hobart College won, opened up four retail stores in the DC area before deciding to focus on the Madgear Apparel Line, the online store and the national lacrosse programs. Maddux was a head or assistant coach at one college and three DC area high schools from 1995-2010 and was named DC area 'Coach of the Year' in 2004.  The name Madlax is a combination of his last name (Mad) and the abbreviation of the word lacrosse (Lax).

Having played, coached and managed lacrosse teamscampsleaguesclinics and tournaments for boys and girls of all ages at the youth, high school, college, travel all-star and even international levels since 1980, Cabell Maddux is considered a pioneer and leader in the sport of lacrosse. A passionate coach and father of three boys he continues to help grow the sport locally, nationally and globally.

A former All-American in both high school (Lawrenceville) and college (Hobart), he was named New Jersey Player of the Year in 1989 and the NCAA Attackman of the Year in 1993. He was part of two National Championship teams at Hobart in 1991 and 1993. As a international, college, high school and youth coach since 1994 he has led his teams to many championships. He is known for his caring yet intense style of coaching that has resulted in many accomplishments of which he is proud. He coaches with passion and energy but is most proud of his record of college placementAll-Stars program and C.A.S.E. initiative.

Cabell founded Madlax in 1996 and since then he has helped over 500 young men achieve their dream of playing college lacrosse in D1, D2 or D3 through his Madlax All-Stars program. He looks forward to helping the new regional and partner Madlax all-star programs create similar success. He has founded and coached numerous camps, clinics and tournaments in five states that have positively impacted boys and girls that are beginners to expert levels. In 2010 he started the C.A.S.E. (character-attitude-success-effort) initiative which teaches life lessons through elite lacrosse. It is a complete character development program and has resulted in improved sportsmanship and respect from players while also creating stronger chemistry, accountability and improved play by Madlax teams. All players in Madlax-Capital and Madlax-DMV attend a CASE camp each June that sets the framework and makes a lasting impression.

Maddux is considered one of the foremost experts in lacrosse in the DMV lacrosse scene, where he was raised and still resides.  He loves giving all the DMV boys national recognition and attention through his announcing of Livestream games through the Madlax Youtube channel. He has called play by play or provided on air expert analysis in over 50 games since 2015 including the DMV Lax Games of the week.  Whether you want to speak with him about how to score using an invert offense or what is the most effective way to navigate the college recruiting landscape today, he is the right person. He is always excited and happy to meet a young man and his family and looks forward to continuing to teach players and help improve their lacrosse and life skills all while helping them achieve dream of playing college lacrosse.

As he always says to his players, 'Play with Passion'!
