The 2nd Annual YOLO 7v7 Tournament, held at Davis Senior High School, was a resounding success thanks to the 20 teams and 200+ players who participated in the action-packed, fast-paced tournament!

The 7v7 gameplay format inserts all players into constant action. Tournament founder & director Jon Harlan premiered a 30-second shot clock this year in addition to his custom two-point arc, "the shot clock forces players to be on constant alert and produces more shots than in most standard 10v10 games... we were very impressed with the speed of play and the repetitions for all YOLO players today".

Terra Linda Middie & Sr. Captain Adam Simon loved the game format, "The shot clock and two-point line were X-factors that helped level the playing field...[they] added to the fun and excitement, no lead was safe".

The tournament held divisions for U13, U15, HS JV, & HS Varsity. Each division consisted of at least four teams.

The Scorpions won the U13 division, playing fast and confident all day!

The P-Town Storm went undefeated, with a winning margin of more than 10 goals in each game!

The HS JV division featured a ton of talent especially in the Western Conference, comprised of The Pack (East Bay), Homegrown (North Bay/SF), & Madd Hadders (Marin/SF)

Homegrown handled Madd Hadders easily in pool play but the Hadders stepped up in the 'Re-Match' Championship Game! Coach Spencer 'Savvy' Martin made a few game-time adjustments in the Semi-Finals against a physical & gritty Stampede Team. They continued to build on the momentum with a convincing win over Homegrown in the Championship!

Mason DePaola (Rancho Cotati, Fr.), Maxwell Pierce (Bishop O'Dowd, Soph.) & Blaine Mackin (Bellarmine Prep, Soph.) anchored the attack unit while Jack Depenaloza (Riptide, 8th Grade) & Olin Piotter (Santa Rosa, Fresh.)  had breakout performances in the midfield. The real juggernaut of the day was the unorthodox standout play of Goalie Nick Baralozza (Terra Linda, Soph, MVP.)

The Sacramento Aces featured some studs on offense and a pesky goalie between the pipes, helping them capture the HS Varsity division crown!

Thank you to all the players and families who made the 2nd Annual YOLO Classic a terrific time for all involved. Good luck in the upcoming spring season! Please contact calidirectors@madlax.com if you have any questions. We look forward to all the teams rejoining us next year!
