Coaches Comments- Colin Burns

Coach Rienzo on Colin Burns:

"Colin Burns is one of the most dedicated, focused, and determined young student-athletes I have been around. I have coached him for around 6 years - he is a leader and he has been one of our most reliable and productive players year after year.

Colin is an exceptionally well rounded attackman who does everything very well.  He is our quarterback of the offense at X.  He feeds very well and has exceptional vision.  He can finish in tight with either hand and he shoots well with time and room with both hands.  He can create his own shot off the dodge or he can draw the slide and move the ball to jump start the offense.   Colin's lacrosse IQ is off the charts and you'd be hard pressed to find a harder worker.

Colin, in my opinion, is one of the top attackmen in the country.  He is as well rounded a person as he is a lacrosse student-athlete, and he excels in the classroom at the highest level in addition to the lacrosse field.  Any school or lacrosse program would be lucky to have Colin Burns on their team, and he is the type of guy you can build around."

Inside Lacrosse: 10 Who Impressed at Geico Nationals

Colin Burns ’23, A, Georgetown Prep (Md.) With the Little Hoyas’ elder statesmen off their game during Sunday's losing effort, Burns stepped up in a major way in the third quarter to erase Prep’s 8-4 deficit and turn it into an one-goal game. The heralded sophomore scored a natural hat trick in less than two minutes, using his off-ball acumen and quick release to his benefit. On his fourth goal on a dodge from X, he recognized an opening in the zone and was able to finish appropriately with his off-hand in the fourth quarter. Based on what he’s shown since last fall, Burns is bound to become one of the more highly-recruited 2023 attackmen.
