FELT - Fall Elite Lacrosse Training

Days: Thursdays
Dates: 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17
Time:  5-6pm  
Cost: Only $395 for 6 sessions!
Location: Langley Fork Park, McLean VA
Who: 6th-12th grade boys who are very advanced who we think will respond well to elite coaching and training.  9-12th graders will be kept together. 
Experience: 5+ years of experience. 
Class Size:  12-24 Boys upon approval.
Note: This clinic is not for everyone. All players should register and then our Directors will confirm your participation after review. All players not accepted in FELT sessions will automatically participate in our Intermediate clinics focusing on the exact same four areas.

Equipment: Full pads required (helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, stick). Also you must wear cleats.  All lacrosse apparel and equipment is found conveniently at Madlax Shop in McLean (1368 Chain Bridge Road) or in our online store at www.Madlax.com/shop.

Description of each FELT Sessions: see below...

DEFENSE: Advanced footwork, Stick positioning, stickwork, checks, sliding, off-ball and clearing focus.

OFFENSE: Advanced Dodging and Shooting Sessions. 

GOALIE: Advanced Footwork, Hand Movements, Saving and Clearing Sessions, Mindset. 

FACE-OFF: Advanced offensive and defensive moves, counters and wing play. 

Bonus: Every camper will receive a free reversible jersey and Madlax Branded T-Shirt upon completion of the clinic. Also all campers will be emailed a 10% discount coupon to use in Madlax stores once you register for any clinic.

Goalie 'SHUTOUT' Clinic General Plan:

5 minutes - Pre Practice Early (4:55pm)

  • Meet and discuss plan today plus mindset, focus and mental strategies. 

20 minutes - Warm Up

  • 10 minutes physical warm up. Dynamic, Hand-eye. 
  • 10 minute playing warm up. Short stick saves, body saves, practical warm ups, gear up speed.

30 minutes - LIVE
Max effort, max reset, equal value of all shots!

  • 10 minutes of step downs/feet set shooter
  • 10 minute of pass-then-shot (from X, from the low corners, from wings, across the top)
  • Evolve drill - so shooters have options of cutting, popping, diving, etc.
  • 10 minute of inside work, cross crease, pipe-to-pipe, low angle work.
  • All include outlets, clearing, angle + arc play. 

10 minutes - Game & Competitions

  • Knock out / King of the hill / Etc...

5 minutes - Post Practice
Review & Discuss work done today, how to work at home & adapt to your own game.

DEFENSE 'DOMINATE' - Clinic General Plan

5 minutes (4:55-5:00): Introduction and general overview of the goal of the sessions

10 minutes (5:00-5:10): Warm-up Footwork

  • Box footwork drill
  • Alley footwork drill

20 minutes (5:10-5:30): Approach Work

  • Breakdown and and drop steps on a cone
  • 2-cone gate drill (1 on 1 with no stick)

25 minutes (5:30-6:00): 1v1 Work

  • High-wing gate drill for alley dodges
  • Low-wing gate drill for baseline dodges
  • Low-wing 1v1s off a late approach

5 minutes (6:00-6:05): Closing comments / things to work on before next session

OFFENSE 'UNGUARDABLE' - Clinic General Plan

15 minutes (5:00-5:15): Intro and Warm-Up

  • Quick Dynamic
  • Stickwork Drill

15 minutes (5:15-5:30): Fundamentals Focus

  • Work on the piece of technique applicable to the session

20 minutes (5:30-5:50): Live Reps

  • Incorporate Technique into Full Speed Drills

10 Minutes (5:50-6:00): Competition and Accuracy

  • Compete with one another in accuracy challenges

FACE-OFF 'SCORPION' - Clinic General Plan

5pm: Dynamic and Face Off warm up. (Helmet and Gloves). Drills include Exits, chops, Clamps, hand speed, different whistle cadences, resistance work, ground balls with pressure, and Ball distribution.  

5:20: Strategy and Counters. Will talk and demonstrate high level counters used at the college and pro level.

5:30: Face-Off drills. Will partner up and do 50/100 (clamps with pressure), ball hand grabs, Tee Pee drill, and situational lives vs counters. Working into full lives. 

5:40: Live Face-Offs and competition. King of the hill, tournaments. Will rotate partners to maximize reps against different Face-Off styles. 

5:50: Face-offs to fast break shooting. Working on fast breaks off the Face-off into shooting. Working on our burst of speed, handling the ball, and taking it to the rack! 

6pm. Questions and breakdown the session, overview.  What to work on...

Posted a career high of 21 saves in an 11-9 win @ Syracuse in 2023
- Recorded a 10.59 goals against average and a .471 save percentage in 254:43 in 2022.
- Made first career appearance in 2021 at seventh-ranked Rutgers and posted two saves while allowing three goals in 15 minutes of action.
- Made first career start in a 14-13 loss to top-ranked Maryland in 2021.  Posted 11 saves, including six in the first quarter, against the Terrapins.
- Sparked Johns Hopkins’ 15-7 win at Penn State in the B1G Quarterfinals as he had 12 saves and allowed just six goals in 59:53; he also had six GBs in the win.
- Recorded 12 saves, including five in the fourth quarter, to fuel a 12-10 win over #6 Rutgers in the Big Ten Semifinals.

Gonzaga
- Ranked as the #59 freshman in the nation by Inside Lacrosse in 2020.
- Ranked as the #4 freshman goalie in the nation by Inside Lacrosse in 2020.
- Played lacrosse and wrestled. 
- Helped team to three Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Championship games with a four-year record of 68-14. 
- Had a career high of 172 saves with a 63% save average in 2018 to earn First Team All-WCAC, Third Team USA Today All-USA Team and Washington Post All-Met.  
- Led the team to an 18-3 record, with a 6.77 goals against average in 2019 and earned First Team All-WCAC, First Team Washington Post All-Met and Under Armour All-America honors.
