Madlax Wins the National Youth Fallfest 2015 (11.8.15)

The 2024 Capital All-Stars extends it's tournament win streak to 6!

In the last six championship format tournaments or leagues the 2024 Capital team has entered it has won the Championship! This goes back to March 2015. Yesterday was #6 as they beat Madlax MD/VA 2023 7-3 in the finals of the National Youth FallFest.

Madlax played and convincingly beat Silver Spring Warriors LC, 3D Mid-Atlantic and MD Extreme before heading into a Championship against another quality Madlax team.

Jake Campell lead the team in scoring on the weekend and seemed to finish every shot he took and dish out plenty of assists to pace the high powered offense. Ryan Duenkel lead the team in goals while Steele Maddux finished up 3rd on the team in scoring to round out one of the more lethal starting attack units in the nation. Sam Whitehurst dominated play in the middle of the field and won close to 90% of his face-offs. Robby Bath faced off well also! Everyone got into the action as Hudson Greene played particularly well on attack and midfield. Sloan Richards, Hank Maddux, Chase Robertson and Finn Avis all scored, played tough middie defense, transitioned well and scooped lots of ground balls all day long!  JJ Kim in goal was excellent and the defense (Lesher, Timmins, Green) protecting him was tough all day long only allowing 11 goals in 4 games.

Congratulations to the Capital 2024 boys. They wrap up the outdoor season this weekend at the Hoganlax Fall Brawl.

Madlax 9 - Bethesda 6 (10.18.15)

Madlax-Capital 2024 Explodes in 2nd half to take down rival, Bethesda, 9-6, in a fall league match-up.

After being ties at half 4-4 and down 4-5, Madlax went on a 5 goal run in the 2nd half to beat a very talented Bethesda team. This win avenges an earlier season loss by one and may be the final time Madlax plays Bethesda 2024 until spring 2016. Although it was literally almost freezing at game time (9am) Madlax played their most complete game of the year as a team limiting turn-over and mistakes. Madlax played it's bets team defense so far and improved on clears!

Unofficial stats: Steele Maddux, in his first game of the fall, added a hat trick, to lead the team in scoring. Sam Whitehurst and Ryan Duenkel added 2 goals each as well. Robbie Bath, Jake Campbell and Hank Maddux had 2 assists each proving that when we share the ball we play better offense! Graham Lesher played especially tough defense and locked down the opponents top attackman limiting him to one goal. Defenders James Timmins, Brodie Green, Davis Owens and Callan Keane were especially physical and constantly knocked down passes and frustrated Bethesda. GB's need improvement with those longsticks.

Great win and confidence builder as the team heads into 4th grade tourneys in November!

Madlax Halftime Game Denver-GTown Game (4.2.16)

Amazing experience today for the 2024 Capital & 2024/25 MDVA players! 26 lucky boys got to play at halftime for 7 minutes of the Gtown-Denver D1 lacrosse game. The White beat the Blue team 3-1. The highlight was an incredible BTB (behind the back) goal by Steele Maddux off an impressive assist from Ryan Duenkel. So much fun for all!

SPRING LEAGUE NPYLL - 2015 CHAMPIONS!!!

The Madlax-Capital 2024 AAA team played its best half of the season in fitting fashion and with perfect timing as they raced out to a 12-3 halftime lead. They never looked back and cruised to a 16-8 win over a Bethesda team they used to only beat by a goal last year.

This 2024 team worked harder all spring than any 3rd grade team ever for Madlax and the improvements and payoffs were rewarded. Every player showed confidence, improved skills and higher overall game IQ and knowledge. Since March 1st the team has created amazing chemistry and it shows on the field with consistently high level play! CONGRATULATIONS !

Ryan Duenkel was named game MVP with 10 points (6 goals and 4 assists). Chase Robertson had 8 GB's, 1 goal and 4 assists (5 points) and Jake Campell had 6 points (5 goals, 1 assist). The heart and soul of the team was Sam Whitehurst who once again controlled face-offs, gave his team more possessions and led our team throughout emotionally! He was 8 of 12 on the day and won 72% on the season! Incredible.

Ryan was also named season MVP as he led the team in scoring with 50 points this spring. Robert Bath was named season C.A.S.E. award winner due to his tireless work ethic, hustle, positive attitude, sportsmanship, commitment and dedication to the team and his teammates.

A special thanks to the most dedicated and amazing manager ever in Colleen Avis. She is the best and is a huge part of our team success! The 2024 bond is unmatched! Also thanks to Duncan Avis and Lael Campbell for providing valuable stats all season.

Best of luck this summer! GO MADLAX!!!!

Madlax 10, Breakers 6 (5.30.15)

Solid win to advance to finals!

Madlax 13, Bethesda 7 (5.17.15)

Madlax is in the playoffs! Madlax hosted a very strong Bethesda team at Landon School and despite a close game for 3 quarters pulled away in the 4th to win convincingly 13-7. It was 8-7 to start the 4th quarter!

Madlax jumped outta 8-3 lead in the 2nd quarter but a few tough breaks enable Bethesda to catch it back to 8-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Players of the game, Ryan Duenkel, put the team on his back and pumped in 7 goals! Jake Campell had 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists), while Chase Robertson, Finn Avis, Robert Bath and Steele Maddux all had 2 pints (1 goal, 1 assist). Go Madlax!

Madlax 11, Cavalier 2023 10 (5.10.15)

In a non-league game on Mothers Day, the 3rd grade lax train built up some steam as they rolled a solid and previously undefeated 4th grade team from Loudoun County. Everyone logged quality minutes and Madlax definitely improved as they head into the final weekend of regular season play on May 17th.

The team played unselfishly and moved the ball extremely well in transition. The defense was tested by skilled and huge attack but held tough and slid well forcing many turnovers. It was a total team effort win!

Jake Campbell, player of the game, had an incredible 6 goals and 1 assist to pace Madlax. It included a no-look backwards shot and goal. He was finishing everything on breaks as he received precise passes from Ryan Duenkel who had 6 points, 3 goals and 3 assists, on the day as well.  Chase Robertson also had a huge game and picked up 7 GB's to lead the team while scoring 2 goals and dishing out an assist. Sam Whitehurst won 8 of 11 face-offs to control play.

Madlax is 4-1 in league play now and hosts rival and talented Bethesda, also 4-1, on May 17th. If Madlax win it takes #2 seed into playoffs and earns a home field game on May 30th. GO Madlax!!!

Madlax 6, Hawks 7 in OT (5.3.15)

Madlax traveled to Annapolis and battled more than 4 quarters but came up just short in sudden death to a solid Hawks team in OT. It was an incredible game. Hard fought the entire time. The team is now 4-1 on the season and tied with Bethesda for 2nd place. A win over Bethesda on May 17th will lock 2nd place and a home game on May 30th in the first round of the playoffs.

Player of the game was goalie Connor Pinto who had 8 saves and gave the team a chance to win. Jake Campbell and Ryan Duenkel each has 3 points (2 goals and 1 assist) while Hank Maddux won 50% of his face offs and battled every draw. Chase Robertson led the team with 7 ground balls! He also added 1 goal.

Madlax hosts a Cavalier LC 2023 team (non-league) at home at Landon on May 10th. It is chance to play a quality team and get better before the battle with rival Bethesda.

Go Madlax!

Madlax 18, Next Level 2 (4.26.15)

The 3rd grade magic continued yesterday as the team cruised to victory over Next Level to go 4-0 on the season.

Madlax jumped out fast and scored often early taking a 7-0 1st quarter lead. Everyone got plenty of playing time and experience and the team surely improved. Sam Whitehurst went an incredible 10-0 at face-offs and he added 9 GB's and 4 points. Jake Campbell lead the team in scoring with 7 points (3 goals and 4 assists) followed closely by Ryan Duenkel with 6 points (4 goals and 2 assists).

The player of the game was awarded to Steele Maddux who had 3 GB's, 4 shots, 2 goals and 1 assist.

Madlax now heads into the tough part of the schedule with an away game at Hawks who beat Madlax in the fall of 2014 when they last played. It should be a great game but Madlax is hungry and focused.  GO Madlax!

Madlax 15, Baltimore Breakers 2 (4.19.15)

Outstanding all around performance by Madlax to remain undefeated on the season. 3-0!

After a tight 1st Q (it was only 2-1 Madlax) the boys started moving the ball faster and jumped out to a 6-2 half time lead and cruised to a 15-3 final score. Most goals were assisted which is very hard to defend. Madlax played with constant unselfishness making the extra pass and moved the ball up the field in transition particularly well.

Ryan Duenkel and Sam Whitehurst led the team with 4 goals each. Ryan also added 3 assists to lead team in total points. Sam led the team in GB's with 11 and a face-off record of 6-2. The player of the game was Finn Avis who had 2 goals, 2 assists, 4 GB's and 2 forced turnovers so he will be guest captain for the week.

Matt Mahoney, Steele Maddux, Jake Campbell and Robert Bath all added a goal to round out the scoring. Congrats boys. Good luck next week vs Next Level.  Go Madlax!

Madlax 12 , Cannons 5 (4.12.15)

What a perfect afternoon. All the boys played well and won convincingly. Everyone got to play which is always nice too. Congrats to our newly elected team captains, Jake Campbell, Sam Whitehurst and Ryan Duenkel who were voted by their teammates. After each game I will recognize one player for an outstanding game and they will be honorary captains also for the week. Today that was Robert Bath.

Thank you very much to Colleen Avis for organizing that awesome team party. I know everyone had fun and it was beautiful weather too. Thanks also to Duncan and Lael for keeping stats and Steven Robertson for doing the game clock. That is valuable help and I really appreciate it! We have a great group of parents who all get along well and have fun together. It is so nice to hear you all cheering on all the great athletes who play hard for each other and are becoming close friends. It's a great group all around!

See you next Sunday for another home game against a strong Baltimore Breakers team at Landon. Go Madlax!

Madlax 12, Chesapeake Storm 4 (3.29.15)

Madlax jumped out early on the Chesapeake Storm and never looked back starting off the season 1-0.
